Q. I wonder why we humans still think it's normal to believe such fairy tales. Why is it ok to believe in some bearded white man in the sky, but as soon as someone believes in unicorns and flying pigs we call then crazy?

A. Don't be too sure they don't already. Not so much to believe in religion in some social way, but the patient who takes literally the images on the Sistine Chapel ceiling would probably be considered rather out of touch. The real crazies are the ones who hear voices in their heads and believe it is God speaking to them. Unless they live in the White House, of course . . .

Q. Because my parents say that if there was something wrong with them,no one ran with them to a psychologist.Not just my parents,other people. Yes,but if there was a "crazy" man in the village,they just kept labeling him "crazy" instead of someone taking him to a psychologist or something.Or just caring with him..I said "crazy" because someone with a personality disorder is labeled as that by an ordinary man or an uneducated man.It's pretty hard to understand them if you don't know about them.

A. Definitely. Wayyy back in the days of the ancient Greeks, there is evidence that certain abnormal traits were identified. Take Hippocrates and Galen, for instance. They related the 4 elements, air, earth, fire, and water, to different temperaments. The humors (substances within the body) that related to each were black bile (earth) creating a sad or depressed person... yellow bile (air) creating an excitable and angry person... blood (fire) which created a laid back and cheerful type... and phlegm (water) which created a slow and sluggish person. The theories revolved around balance because too much of any humor gave a person negative characteristics. A person who suffered depression would be thought to have too much black bile within them.
