If Vitex makes you ovulate and regulate your periods, then why to take Clomid?
Q. I am taking Clomid from the last 5 months cuz I have PCOS. But now I was thinking why not to take Vitex to regulate my period and at the same time ovulate. Plz help me. Thanks.

A. I think the reason that you were prescribed clomid instead of vitex is because vitex is not approved by the FDA.

Can I take primrose oil and vitex at the same time?
Q. My menstrual is very irregular. Sometimes it can be only once a year and now I'm thinking of having a baby. As I know primrose oil and vitex will help with hormon balance. Is there anyone can help me out? Can I take primrose oil and Vitex together? Will it hurt? Or is there any other suggestion?

A. ive taken vitex but no primrose oil but maybe u should start with the vitex and add primrose if you get no results because if you mix them and you have a reaction of some sot you wont know what caused it and prob will have 2 stop both. Vitex did help me ovulate but i stopped because i wanted to go all natural so its your choice

Will a laparoscopy and vitex increase pregnancy chances?
Q. I had a laparoscopy on oct 25 and just got my period back. I just started vitex...does this increase fertility chances. We have been trying for a while with no luck.
Asked by - Mon Nov 29 14:13:31 2010 - Trying to Conceive - 1 Answers - Comments

A. As far as vitex, it will increase your chance of fertility, which will then increase your chances of pregnancy. As far as the laparoscopy, I put a link below that will have your answers to that. Dong Quai is a supplement that is also known to boost fertility. Make sure you're taking that Folic Acid, cuz that'll help it too!

Q. I just found out about an herbal supplemant called Vitex that helps with infertility in women. Has anyone tried this and had successful results? Also, how were the side effects for you? Anything else?

A. I didn't know anything about vitex before I started doing some research. I was able to find limited trustworthy information (ie, I don't trust any info from people trying to sell it). Here is the limited information I was able to learn. Vitex can help a women's natural cycle to reassert itself. Therefor Vitex is definately useful if you have recently been on birth control and are afraid that the effect of the birth control will make it harder to conceive 2) I could find no *reliable* source citing scientific proof that Vitex worked, or that it didn't work. I'm surprised I had such a hard time getting hard information considering how many unproven claims I found. My inference would be that medical science has not been able to conclusively… [cont.]

What is soluble starch and what is vitex starch?
Q. I know soluble means it dissolves in water but what is it? Would liquid starch fit into that category meaning like laundry starch? Because I'm doing the Briggs-Rauscher oscillating color change reaction and it calls for soluble starch or vitex starch...what is the differnce between the two, is it the same as laundry starch, and if not where can I get one of the 2?
Asked by sdfasdfasdads - Tue May 27 18:17:36 2008 - Chemistry - 1 Answers - Comments

A. In chemistry, I have regularly used soluble starch to make an indicator solution for identifying the presence of iodine. A little starch powder is made into a paste with cold water. Boiling water is then added and the whole mixture boiled for one minute. The resulting solution is the starch solution used as an indicator. It is a milky white almost opalescent colour and only keeps for about a day, so needs to be freshly made to guarantee reliable results. The powder would need to be purchased from a supplier of chemicals, unless a laboratory would be willing to let you have a small quantity. I would think that all secondary school laboratories would have supplies. I do not think that laundry starch is the same - there are many types of… [cont.]

A. We have been TTC#1 since April with no luck. I recently started taking Vitex and Prime Rose Oil on CD9. I am not expecting any results this month since I started so late into my cycle but if you want to exchange information, I can send you updates if I do see any progess. I have read you usually don't see results until 3-6 months and you should only take it from AF to your OV date each cycle since it's not good to take during pregnancy. So far the only change I have notice is my CM ( seems to be alot more watery than usual with everyday that passes) so I hope that's a good sign the pills are working. As for negative side effects, I have only experienced are a few minor headaches but nothing to bad. I already had regular 30day cycles before… [cont.]

A. I'm not for sure with those...if you take a low dosage then it might take longer...I can't remember what they recommend it though. But I know some ppl that take that one or the herb Vitex or chaste berry they see results in like a month or two...meaning they get their period. But it doesn't help everybody though. I don't know if your trying to get pregnant or not but you should look at this site: natural-fertility-info.com, they have a lot of information on herbs and vitamins at should help get you regulated. But I want to try the herbs too I haven't had a period in 7 months and ttc. So Good Luck!!!

A. I started taking it about 2 weeks ago because I had a friend that got pregnant the first month or two. I haven't had any side effects so far but still not long enough for me to have ovulated yet. I bought mine at Vitamin World and it was about $10 for 100 capsules and I take it twice a day. My friend had the baby and is taking it again just to keep her cycles regular and she said cramping during her cycles isn't as bad when taking it. Good luck to you and lots of baby dust~~~

How long should I be off Vitex (chasteberry) before I start birth control pills?
Q. I've been taking Vitex for about a month. I've had a never ending period for several months and have also tried progesterone. My period lightened up, but never stopped. I finally broke down and went to the doctor, but forget to mention I had been taking Vitex and progesterone cream together. I haven't taken Vitex in 5 or 6 days. Do I have to wait to start my birth control?

A. No, should be fine. Did you work with a natural health practitioner for the Chaste Tree? As proper dosage makes all the difference. (there are other herbs that help as well). good luck either way.

How does vitex, baby aspirin and vitamin b6 help you conceive?
Q. I hear a lot of positive about it. Looking for hope and success stories.
Asked by Summercomeherenow! - Thu Apr 14 14:23:40 2011 - Trying to Conceive - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Actually, neither of these help you conceive. Vitex - this does nothing. if you have hormonal imbalance/disorder (e.g. PCOS), get it properly diagnosed and get the drug metformin. Baby aspirin - This is good to prevent miscarriage risk in the first trimester (due to clotting around the placenta). It doesn't necessarily help with implantation or anything else unless you have a clotting disorder (in which case, get it diagnosed). B6 - this can theoretically increase your luteal phase, so only applicable if you have a short luteal cycle (luteal phase defect). Again, better to have this diagnosed and get the proper meds (progesterone) if you really have this defect. With respect to fertility, you can take any multi-vitamin just to ensure that… [cont.]

Has anyone had success using Vitex when trying to conceive?
Q. I have read very good things about Vitex and how it regulates hormones and may help with pregnancy. Has anyone tried this and had luck in getting pregnant? If yes how much did you take and did you take any other meds with it?
Asked by madisonlilyusa - Thu May 26 12:20:11 2011 - Trying to Conceive - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Yes! I used Vitex and got pregnant that cycle. I took it until I ovulated. I took the recommended dose on the instructions on the bottle. I also used Evening Primrose Oil 2500mg until ovulation and then after ovulation used Vit B6 300mg to lengthen my luteal phase. All of it seemed to do the trick because I became pregnant with my 3rd baby that month.

A. Hey I have PCOS at the moment I am taking Vitex and been on for it 2 weeks and so far had no signs of it working! However, I have read it varies for everyone that tries it and I have read mixed reviews on the the internet neither staying strongly for or against it. I have found from reports that Metformin will be more successful. I am waiting to go to the hospital in March so not sure what they will recommend. I would say speak to your doctor before you stop taking it. Good luck!!
